Anderson School is a private, coeducational day-school nestled in the West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. Thirty-three years ago, philanthropist late Mr. G.H.Syiemlieh, along with his wife, the late Mrs. Keldoris Sohkhlet, envisioned an educational institution for the town of Nongstoin and the District, which would support the children with access to quality education and also provide employment for state-based, skilled teachers. Their firm belief was that the students would go on to elevate their community in myriad ways. Through their youngest daughter, Mrs.W.A.Sohkhlet, and a few dedicated educators, on 6th March 1991 they set out to lay the foundation for generations of learners.

What modestly started off in 1991 with 100 students and 10 teachers, has over the past 29 years grown to a bigger educational institute of 1600+ students and 60+ teaching staff. The school is guided by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) syllabus and opens its doors to children from classes Nursery to XII, across the Science, Arts and Commerce departments.

Over the years, many meritorious students have bagged positions in the General List, Tribal List as well as Top 20 Lists in the State Board Exams. The School strives for a 100% pass rate for classes X and XII and sees the majority of its graduating students achieving 1st Division with distinctions in various subjects. The students excel in equally important, non-academics areas too such as sports, music, drama, arts and environmental care through the various clubs and societies. They have represented the school at both state-level and national-level forums and competitions and won many accolades.

Our graduating students have gone on to be community champions and leaders serving in rewarding professions across the country.
