The School encourages its students and the community to engage in different aspects of activities, be it academic or social service. These extra co curricular activities are part and parcel of the institution and plays a vital role in shaping and honing the personality of a student and his or her peers for which credit is won to the individual or the concern group performing the activities.






     Anderson School celebrated the closing ceremony of its Silver Jubilee on the 4th of April, 2016. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Vincent. H.Pala, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, while the Guest of Honor was Mr. E.P. Kharbhih, Executive Chairman, MBOSE. There were over 2500 students,parents and guests who attended the event from Shillong and other parts of the state.

   Under a white and violet canopy that hosted a beautifully decorated stage, guests started trickling into the school campus by 10:30AM. The celebrations kicked off at 12 noonwith a lovely welcome song by the senior students followed by a welcome address by the chairman of the Managing Committee, Mrs. S.M.Rapthap. The Bible reading was done by students which was followed by the opening prayer by Rev.B.Marngar. The Principal, MrsW.A.Sohkhlet presented the school report highlighting its milestones and achievements during the past quarter of the century. The President of the Alumni Association, Mr.MosklanderMarngar, spoke eloquently and encouraged students to join the Alumni Association for mentoring and guidance. There were different dances, songs and a Biblical skit titled “God honours the obedient’’, enacted by different classes that showed the diversity, talent and skill of the students as well as the teachers who managed them. There was also a song presented by the senior ladies teachers who wore matching dharas (traditional Khasi outfit) and sang beautifully.Toppers, rank-holders and 3 senior-most teachers who had completed 25 years of service were honored with mementos.

   Mr.E.P.Kharbhih, the guest of honor, spoke about how the school has helped remove the “maram” tag and how students who are currently studying in the school should make full use of all the facilities that school offers to its students, be it in the academic side or extra-curricular activities. Mr.V.H.Pala also credited the school on educating the children in the West Khasi Hills and praised the school management. He generously granted the school Rs.25 lakhs for building a beautiful digital library that the students can benefit from. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. D.A Sohkhlet and the benediction was offered by Rev. R.T. Shangdiar.

   A few highlights from the function:
  • Inauguration of the ‘Silver Jubilee Building’ by the Chief Guest, Mr.V.H. Pala
  • Inauguration of the ‘Smart Classroom’ by the Guest of Honor, Mr. E. P. Kharbhih. The Smart Classroom was donated by Mr.K.P.Pangngiang.
  • Release of the Souvenir by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor who were joined by Rev. R.R.Cunville.
  • The school will be receiving a grant of 25 lakhs from Mr. Vincent Pala towards setting-up a digital library

   The event was a grand success – Praise be to God. From the weatherto the enthralling and delightful performances, the delicious food and even the cleaning-up after! One big takeaway was the spirit of unity and helpfulness that came through from the entire staff, the Sponsoring Body, the Management Committee, all the students, especially the alumni association.A special thanks goes to Mr. BlassingMarngar and his family for their valuable assistance.
